I’m Eugene Kazakov.

A brand designer in Austin, Texas. Scroll down and I’ll show you how I work. Most of it you can pick up.

Every project starts with a hole in the page.

Facts, wishes, doubts, a few good ideas. What happens to them next is my job.

Drag things around. Throw them back in. Some of them are rare. Some still work.

1Inside

The answer is already inside.

I don’t bring a brand in from outside. I dig into the product, the people behind it and the place it comes from, until I find what it already is. Then I build from there.

2One idea

Many ideas. One goes on.

A good insight sets off plenty of ideas, and most of them are fine. That’s the trouble. I weigh each one against the insight and keep the one that carries it furthest. The rest go back where they came from.

3System

A system that holds together.

A brand passes through a lot of hands: designers, developers, print shops, whoever makes the slides on Friday night. I put the system together with the client, one choice at a time, so it holds up in all of them and still looks like itself when I’m not in the room.

4Weight

Weight in the right place.

Trends change, plans change, people leave. On its own, a system can’t see where it’s going. Give it the insight we found inside, and it keeps its footing and finds its way through all of it.

What I do

One idea, all the way through.

I take an idea from strategy to the website, the video and the thing you can hold in your hands. On my own, or with a team I put together and direct. Along the way, the product usually gets better too.

For teams and agencies

A designer who carries a brand from strategy to production: positioning, naming, identity, design systems, art direction, websites.

For companies

Strategy, identity and a website. From scratch, or built on your own vision and data.

I work best with people who make something smart and thoughtful, with real care for whoever it’s for. That’s a filter, and it’s on purpose.

Tools

Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Figma, Framer, Blender, DaVinci Resolve, Midjourney, Claude. Also a camera and a 3D printer.

What will fall out of your project?

I’m open to full-time roles, in Austin or remote, and to new projects.
